CANCER

About our Cancer Services:

Breast cancer can be a scary diagnosis but survivability has increased throughout the years as technology has grown, modalities have evolved and medical providers specializing in breast disease have become more common.  Breast cancer is the most common cancer found in women but it is not unique to the gender although less than 1% of all breast cancers are found in men. Risk factors can be genetic or based on family history but other social factors can play a part as well. Symptoms include changes to the breast tissue, abnormal nipple discharge, masses or lumps, changes to the skin and even breast pain. Treatment will likely include a medical oncologist, a radiation oncologist and a breast surgeon.

Here at The Breast Place, we focus on the team approach for cancer treatment and work closely with your physicians to facilitate the best care for you. We facilitate referrals to all services needed based on the individual needs of the patient. Our physicians are dedicated breast surgeons who are trained in oncoplastic surgery helping to decrease the likelihood of deformity following surgery when possible, Hidden Scar™ certified to avoid obvious scarring and we work with a variety of reconstructive plastic surgeons to help you get the outcome you are looking for. We strive to empower you to be involved in the decision making when it comes to your care.

Survivorship goes beyond the surgery and medicinal treatment. The Breast Place has added wellness services to aid in empowering women post treatment to feel and look their best. IV therapy to help with energy, laser scar revision following surgery, skin resurfacing and rejuvenation using the latest laser technology, dermal fillers for fine lines and wrinkles, body contouring to address unwanted areas of fat with noninvasive treatment and more.
Kinds of Breast Cancer:
  • Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS)
Abnormal cells inside a milk duct in the breast. Non-invasive meaning it hasn’t spread outside the duct
  • Lobular Carcinoma in Situ (LCIS)
Abnormal cells inside a lobule of breast. Non-invasive meaning it hasn’t spread outside the lobule.
  • Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC)
Also called infiltrating carcinoma, this type makes up about 80% of breast cancers. This is a cancer that has grown in a milk duct and has invaded neighboring tissue.
  • Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC)
Cancer that begins in the milk producing glands of the breast and spreads to neighboring tissue.
If you or a family member have been given a diagnosis or you have any concerns at all about your breasts, contact us to schedule a consultation with a dedicated breast specialist for a clinical breast exam, thorough medical history review and a treatment plan that will involve you from start to finish.
