An incision is placed in a location that is hard to see so scar is not visible when it heals. https://breastcancersurgery.com/breast-surgery/hidden-scar |

Removal of all the breast glandular tissue through a small incision beneath the overlying skin and nipple. The natural nipple is able to be retained and the breast rebuilt below the skin using natural tissue or implant reconstruction.
Fat transfer from another area of your body to recreate the breast tissue that has been removed is one way to have reconstruction following a total mastectomy. There are multiple methods for natural tissue transfer that includes transplanting tissue from your abdomen or from your thighs to rebuild the appearance of the breast. We partner with highly skilled plastic surgeons in the Charleston area to coordinate this type of reconstruction. Reconstruction is often done in multiple stages with the first stage including the mastectomy and initial tissue transfer at the same time.
