Right in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The Breast Place is celebrating six years of helping women navigate their breast cancer treatment. To date, The Breast Place has treated over 6,000 patients, a major milestone for the company.

Serving as the only female-founded breast health facility in the state of South Carolina, The Breast Place offers same-day appointments and services throughout Greater Charleston, including North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, and West Ashley.

"Women are often too busy working and taking care of their families to take immediate action when they detect abnormal tissue or a lump in their breast," said Dr. Jennifer Beatty, founder of The Breast Place. "Our goal is to make it easier for women to get access to quality treatment so they can take care of themselves as well."

Today, statistics indicate that twelve percent of women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. That's one in eight women. And in South Carolina alone, over 3,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

"With breast cancer being such a deeply personal issue for women and, with such a large population being diagnosed, it's that much more important for breast care to be specialized and personalized to the patient," said Dr. Jennifer Fiorini, co-owner of The Breast Place. "Every woman's case and situation is unique and, therefore, so too should be her treatment."

For the past six years, The Breast Place has successfully operated as an independent and privately-owned breast health facility. As a result, patients at The Breast Place receive a greater level of access to options that exist outside of a non-independent setting.

"Survival rates for breast cancer are better than they have ever been and that has everything to do with how many amazing options for treatment we have," Beatty said. "By operating as an independent breast health facility, we can provide our patients access to the best option based on their unique diagnosis."
